Open Exhibitions

There are many opportunities to take part in public exhibitions through the 'Open' process.  Most galleries charge a fee when you submit your work (there are a few exceptions). If selected, your work is exhibited and promoted.  There are often prizes awarded or other opportunities. These tend to take place a very specific times so follow the link to the site to check when their submission date is.

Web Link Nottingham Visual Arts

Nottingham Visual Arts launched in 2009 as a website specifically for and about the Nottingham Visual Arts scene.  Originally founded as a partnership between Nottingham based curator and writer Jennie Syson, and co-founder of Nottingham Creative Business Awards and then chair of Broadway, Andrew Cooper – NVA has documented and recorded the cultural renaissance brought about by a plethora of artist led activity and international art activity in the city, which, since it’s founding has grown from strength to strength.

Web Link Nottingham Castle Open

For more than 100 years Nottingham Castle Museum & Art Gallery, the first municipal Museum & Art Gallery outside of London, has played host to an ‘open-style’ exhibition, an event which celebrates the enormous creative talent within the region. The Nottingham Castle Open is one of the busiest and most exciting events in the Castle’s Annual calendar.

In 2013 they removed the application fee and went online.  They also removed the need to include a 'statement' in your application so selection is entirely by image now.
